2000-2020: a visual report
I am interested in the first twenty years of this century, from the beginnings of the Internet, the birth of mass and social media, to the recent developments of the Covid -19 crisis and the way it is reshaping our societies. In my work I (re)create and intertwine personal and collective memory, combining high art and pop culture, the sacred and the profane, regardless of pre established hierarchies.
My work doesn’t focus on just one theme, as I embrace my visual environment in all its diversity, from childhood memories to fashion, global events, the news cycle, etc.
Using my own memories, origins and personal experience as a woman I am also trying to describe a feminine approach to the world I was born into.
This is just the beginning of my journey as an artist and visual journalist. It will probably take me a life time to fully embrace what has happened since my birth, as the past continues to be remodelled by current events.
The aesthetics of my works are based on inspiration through religious representations, posters, magazines and illustrations.
