When exploring designs and unique ways of promoting myself as a brand was so important as this in turn is make more of a punch to potential employers than your portfolio would. So with this in mind, I have chosen a selection of inspirational unique designs to explore when looking into branding.
Category: Year 3
Packaging Market Research
Starting the Market Research I thought going into the Laines and exploring current beauty packaging to explore. Some of these Images are primarily Luxury Beauty brands that are stocked in Local Brighton Boutiques. This gave me a good insight into what sort of designs I am aiming towards and how this can be projected into the designs.
Alternative Packaging Solutions
When thinking about packaging and how I could utilise to form a cohesive strategy for my Agency. I began exploring ways in which are already been put into action with companies like;
Tipa – Compostable Bio Material Packaging
Noissueco- Custom Sustainable Tissue Wrap
EarthPack
It wasn’t only the existing companies like these that inspired me to research my own alternative ways of packaging. It was the methods in which I could experiment with.
BioOrange and BioPlastics
I looked back on previous research module, the information I had seen was that packaging could be created from orange peel. From this I then created the brand BioOrange, to explore an avenue of bioplastics designed from waste orange peels. Going into further research of this, it was proving to be a something that would involve exploration of scientific analysis and how molecules and addition of co2 would go into the creation of BioOrange.
Final Major Project
Upon reflection of my Final Major Project Submission, I felt that very disconnected to my idea. The Fashion revolution concept involved a lot of aspects surrounding the fields I wanted to explore further such as; sustainability, graphic design based branding and innovative ideas.
I began to explore other ways I could channel these concepts to mould into an idea I had more passion and creativity towards. When visiting the Design Museum throughout my research module I found myself drawn to the idea of branding through packaging, this is something that I have had a keen interest in as a creator.
Brainstorming ways in which I could channel the different elements of my project and speaking with my tutors and particularly the inspiration from my dissertation, the idea of creating a sustainable packaging solutions agency was born. I will be exploring ways in which companies approach packaging whether that be online or offline.
As I get deeper into my concept it will evolve as I am learning and exploring, this is something that I feel far more passion towards as I feel I am learning and finding ways to educate people who have a similar outlook and lack of knowledge surrounding sustainability as I do.
L6 Evaulation
Throughout my final year research project, I wanted to explore something I didn’t have much knowledge of. When reading the Elle sustainability edition, I felt inspired as this was a current subject that I was aware of however I felt this would be a good base for my research. From this lead me to visit the V&A museum to see the Fashioned from Nature exhibition, it was so eye opening and gave me a broad concept to go from. I felt that this was something that I wanted to mould into branding as I feel this is one of my strengths and passions lay. To gain inspiration I had visited the Design Museum and there I was struck by single use plastic and packaging. I felt like I could draw aspects from this into my design research and how this could utilise my skills. Looking into labels and care information, I used these to create my own bold labelling and experiment with fabrics. Labels and receipts are something that I experimented with through collaging and laser cutting, this was inspired by recycling paper receipts. Throughout my research I wanted to explore alternative fabrics, I had a small knowledge of pinetax and this lead me onto researching into creating orange peel into a bio plastic, from this I created the brand bioorange. Here I was utilising my design skills and felt this is what I wanted to integrate into my FMP. I was looking into love your clothes and circular fashion companies and something that really interested me was the design of Fashion Revolution, from examination I wanted to gibe fashion revolution a rebrand and a refresh. This started the core of my FMP idea, rebranding the downloadable packs for consumers and businesses to use. I think throughout ther FMp my idea will evolve and follow through marketing on a larger scale on social platforms and digitally marketing a campaign.
