91% of the worlds population live in areas exceeding the World Health Organisation’s guidelines for healthy air (1). This equates to over 7 billion people breathing unhealthy air.
The detrimental health affects of poor air quality are widespread, stated to be currently the fourth biggest killer globally, reducing life expectancy at a similar rate as all cancers (2)
Particulate matter is the most dangerous form of air pollution, invisible to the naked eye and the largest contributor to reducing life expectancy.
Some of the most affected people are runners as they are breathing heavily when exercising outside.
This problem for runners needs a solution.
Introducing Alter
Alter is a watch to help runners monitor, manage and avoid exposure to particulate matter.
The watch pairs with the Alter app.
This allows for monitoring progress and the creation of routes with ease. Third party particulate matter data is displayed on the app for the user to navigate with.
The watch also contains a PM2.5 monitor, allowing for pollution alerts when entering areas of high pollution not detailed by the monitoring data.
Alter allows runners to take control of their exposure to poor air conditions in a comfortable, customisable and stylish manner.
