This blog is about a project me (Jordan Maglennon) and my team (Hannah Morton and Georgia Barker) did on Vanquish Fitness to improve its digital marketing campaign.
I have learned many skills at Brighton University but Teamwork is by far one of the most valuable skills I have learned!
The never ending COVID-19 pandemic has made it very difficult to work with other new students I haven’t met before. However, the access students currently have to Microsoft Teams and other social media applications have made things a lot easier in terms of getting to know your group members as well as being able to continue learning in video call seminars.
My group and I decided we would set up our own Microsoft Teams group chat for the Digital Marketing assignment so that we could post our research notes as well as having frequent video calls to keep each other updated on our work progression.
Firstly, we decided to split the workload up into 3 topics each so that we all had the same amount to do and no one was working any harder than the others. Secondly, we took our time to gather information and do are own individual research for our topics before adding anything to the presentation. We wanted to make sure that we had enough good quality work to put into the PowerPoint presentation. Once we had all of our notes on Vanquish, we started to compile them into a presentation trying not to repeat ourselves, however, this proved to be quite difficult as all of the topics we spoke about share similar details. In addition to this we all made a script each so that we could go into more detail about the slides. Finally, after adding all of our notes to the PowerPoint and perfecting our scripts, we practiced over and over to make sure we would get the timings right and to ensure that we didn’t make any mistakes when we recorded.
Working with Hannah Morton and Georgia Barker in a group was an absolute privilege and I am very grateful to the both of them for the hard work that they put into this digital marketing assignment. Each of us worked extremely hard both individually and as a group. If someone felt that they were struggling with a piece of the work then I am confident in saying that we were all there for one another to help out.
In Conclusion, I feel as though this assignment has improved my team working and research skills even further than before and will hopefully benefit me later on in life with my future career as someone who aspires to be a part of digital marketing. I would also like to add to the fact that we worked in a group of 3 which is 1 person less than your normal groups which meant the extra workload was spread out between us, meaning that we probably had more work to do individually than other groups did.
