Evaluation

At the start of the project, I initially was worried about how I would be able to complete this amount of work and was worried surrounding the idea of a sub-brand all by myself. So initially I started to do extra work reading the brief over and over till I started to understand and was very confused when coming to lectures. Through attendance and recurring engagement I was able to gain a clear and put-together plan on how I wanted to tackle this project. I took on the parent brand of Balenciaga which, I felt, was a very intimidating choice. The reason for picking Balenciaga was the clear promotional inspiration for a shift whether that be with technology or environmentally which I knew I wanted to tackle as the main premise of my sub-brand. Research and experimentation and a lot of conversation discussing what my sub-brand is going to be and through a lot of different experiences helped me gain small ideas that lead to a pile of ideas. I really enjoyed the curation process. Planning encouraged me to engage more creatively and figure out how I’m going to achieve an outcome. I felt like with this project I really thought about the processes I was experimenting with. While working there was always a positive flow of creativity and I didn’t want to stop doing the project as I enjoyed it enough that it didn’t feel like work. There were ideas I wasn’t able to do even though I was extremely excited and confident with the idea due to the lack of time and models I had at the time of the shooting. But overcoming that helped me reflect on how I didn’t need to do everything at one moment and having opportunities with a longer time period would create a grander outcome that I could put time and effort into and not overwork myself. I’m content with the way my work came out of this project. I enjoyed it enough. There are a few moments and situations where I would have changed how I worked but still working and keeping everything productive helped me a lot. If I was to do this project again I would have planned more shoots to do to experiment really with the concept of my brand. Involving and interacting with trends and trend forecasting within this project was new to me, however, I enjoyed understanding new things and exploring resources to discover up and coming competitors and trends. I think the creation of my macro trend boards could be improved however I feel like my output of the trend resonated with my macro trend concepts especially circling the trend of sustainability and climate change which all in all surrounded my sub-brand, which was my initial aim was to create a mockup of a brand which will create a positive change within fashion regarding the climate crisis.
