Exhibition preparation

The main elements of the exhibition space will be the sensory elements involved in the space, I will be covering the four senses including sight, touch, sound and smell. For the sight, there will be a variety of experimentations from the first attempt to the last for the user to view. For the touch element, there will be large samples so that our users can feel the texture of the materials as well as elements from the moss rug which will be at the centre of the space, there will be a chair with moss rug on it where the user can listen to a compilation of the material ASMR. For the sound there will be optional headphones where the user can listen to specific ASMR regarding our materials, each headset will have different ASMR tracks to explore a different route of controlling the narrative of the biomaterials. For the smell it won’t be overly specific however, the user is available as it could be a feature of question regarding biomaterials as these examples are made from food waste. I want to experiment with essential oils to create a unique nature smell as a lot of my products so far smell aggressively of vinegar which is a key ingredient in my recipes. I’ve been working alongside my main outcome for the exhibition slowly and through my creation and through the experimentation working on the ASMR through each experiment. Through the progression, it’s fun to explore how I’m going to add to the exhibition and create the structure and plan for the time. Included in my Gannt Chart I’ve included prep time for the exhibition but I feel like more refined details will need attention and to help manage my time through this I want to narrow down what I need to work on through a Gannt chart when dates for the graduate show get released at a closer date.

Sight:

  • Large-scale prints of editorial photoshoots
  • Fashion object garments on manikins
  • Moss rug experimentation with knit and crochet

Touch:

  • Experimentation of test of biomaterial to explore the evolved textures
  • Moss rug seat

Sound:

  • ASMR of the process of the material process
  • Natural surrounding sounds (to induce calmness)

Smell:

  • Work with essential oils in the space
  • The chance to question the material and smell the unique material
