Exhibition progression

Over the week of the 13th – 17th, we had the time to start preparing our exhibition spaces; during the duration of my preparing, I decided to split my space due to the separation barrier in the middle of the allocated space disconnected my work, to start me and Chris build a frame for my images and from here it was a lot of back and forth bringing the rest of my objects to add to my exhibition, I didn’t prepare or request any plinth for the exhibition. Still, I did need something to hold and display my items for the exhibition. For this, I started brainstorming through an item that can connect the work together to the food waste and hospitality industry; over the years of my creative I have been collecting these fresh food crates in my local area after often thrown away after use, I started collecting these when I was 15, and I have been upcycling these as side tables and shelves. Bringing these into the exhibition is very comforting due to their history in my creative process. From here, I have a mani queen head, a box of all my material experimentations, the moss rug chair and paired headphones.
I’ve been working on moss rugs for a while, and it has taken me just under a year; the techniques used on moss rugs are embroidery, pom pom, crochet, knitting, and weaving. Creating the moss rug has opened up my mindset for exploring more techniques and avenues for creating an object that resembles moss; the premise of the moss rug is to provide a comfortable place in my exhibition for the user to listen to the ASMR of the process of the bioleathers, in all essences my exhibition is exploring the sensory elements and is intended for all aspects of the exhibition to be interacted with and touched. I’m delighted with how my exhibition is set out and excited to see everyone’s work in the private viewing.
