Marina Vengut Photographer research

“Marina Vengut is a transgressive photographer and creative director based in Barcelona. Seeking to generate impact, her imaginary is based on finding generation Z trends, going from her Japanese passion to her enthusiasm for fashion, femininity and love. Completely removed from classical photography, she embarks on a digital and provocative-surreal world, giving importance to saturated colors and high contrasts. Being known for working with celebrities, she has also worked with clients like Bershka, GCDS or Converse and shoot for magazines like Vogue, Paper Magazine, Highsnobiety or NYLON.”

What stands out to me about Vengut’s work is the lighting. Within my promotional photography, I want strong highlights and lighting on the model to ensure the details of the biomaterials can be seen within the image. Some lighting techniques I can use for future shoots would be a reflector, softboxes, and flash guns. I’m going to be experimenting with this further through experimentations for my imagery. I’ve included the lighting diagrams of lighting that are inspired by Vengut’s photography. Strong portraits with other uses of a fish eye lens have stood out to me my whole journey as I find them the most compelling, especially within fashion photography. Her work is very futuristic and Y2K which isn’t the exact style I’m going to be following with symbiosis, as I want regal and curious imagery.
