I created a mood board of layouts that we have had discussions about or lean more toward some key elements of this mood board is handwritten typography, edges on imagery to seem collage, and negative space. For me, this mood board captures the style of the layout that we as a team want for the magazine. It’s just getting to the challenging point of putting it all together as I’m not completely confident in InDesign and working with type. From the start, I knew I wanted to use handwritten typography within the magazine and show my experimentations on the sketchbook page. I feel like their inclusion of handwritten typography will translate our personal and welcoming feel to the magazine that we want. I think ollie’s title could be developed more and expanded as I feel like the brush strokes are hard to read and can be misread but I think the other typography fits the feel we want. We wanted all our profiles to have handwritten titles as I think it’s a nice touch of personal expression. I feel in relevance to Nosy having individual and diverse handwritten typography and exploring different people’s handwriting is exciting and being nosy. The way you write is individual to you and can express characteristics about you personally. Handwriting analysis (also known as graphology) can even be used for detecting lies and revealing possible health ailments. As this fascinates me, I want it to be a large part of the type.
