In particular, the Tibetan Monk exhibition seemed perfect as a research point for the mindfulness subject. The artwork at the exhibition, could also prove to be an interesting reference point for illustration of the poem, creating a morph of the negative ‘black lake’ and tibetan positivity of the Dalai Lama practise.

I was drawn to the idea of the dragon symbol as an emblem of strength that is often used to drain water. The dragon symbol could be utilised as a positive illustration of draining the ‘black lake’ of depression, especially if I ended up making a self- help zine.

Exploration into Chakras – a guide for self- help:

Tibetan medicine coins upon the idea that there are interactions between the mind, body, brain, spinal column and sexual organs – red and white ‘solar’ and ‘lunar’ channels interact at the chakras that manage our wellbeing. If there is a blockage, it will stop the flow causing illness. Fitness and psychology can help ease the flow. The ‘three poisons’; ignorance, greed and aggression can cause a blockage. Tantric yoga can be practised to help achieve happiness. Indeed, one can even wear manta beads to invoke qualities of tantric deities.
