To be honest, starting my final year has been intimidating and I wasn’t quite sure where to start. After reading the brief and having a look through the handbook it’s given me various ideas I could develop. I don’t just want to create the first thing I think of, and I want my project to have meaning. So I started to think about what I’m passionate about, what form of creation I love most, and what I want my work to show and why. Being from North Wales I’m surrounded by nature and animals, I am heavily inspired by the outdoors and feeling in touch with the world around us, as I feel as though it can be easy to forget the importance of nature with such a fast developing world. Photography is my chosen area as I want to capture my ideas through imagery, I will be researching names such as Tim Walker, Celia Pim, Stella McCartney, and Jennifer Moon. My idea is to experiment with narrative by telling a story through photography that is relating to nature. At the moment I’m unsure on what aspect of nature I will choose to show, whether it be an issue within nature or showing appreciation. By researching my themes below I hope to develop my idea further.
Gardens
Flowers
Sea life/water
Animals
Forests
I will also be researching wild alchemy as I feel strongly towards home medicines and remedies using what nature has provided us. I feel this would be an interesting topic to research and bring into my work through various forms.
This week I will research the names I have listed, as well as books I find that relate to my work, start photographing elements of nature and experimenting with the different themes, I will also start to make a mood board book of my ideas put together to help develop my ideas.
