Anita Rupprecht has written an article for Himid’s show Memorial to Zong – the piece reflects on two of Himid’s artworks in the context of the relationship between the histories and cultural memories of the transatlantic slave trade.

Lubaina Himid, the artist who won the Turner Prize in 2018, has a new exhibition, Memorial to Zong, at the Lancaster Maritime Museum. It is the culmination of Himid’s engagement with  Lancaster and its slave trade history.  While the opening is delayed due to COVID-19, accompanying the exhibition, during Black History Month, a series of videos and other materials will be shown on the Museum Facebook Page.
