Beth Hudson, who is studying Psychology and Criminology BA(Hons), has been selected to assist in a research project carried out in the School of Applied Social Science.
Beth will receive a bursary to work on a literature review and policy analysis on the project ‘The politics of in/visibility in immigration detention’, led by criminology lecturer Raphael Schlembach.
The initiative is funded by the university’s Centre for Spatial, Environmental and Cultural Politics.
The student intern will play a central role in meeting the project’s aims, particularly by carrying out work on an academic literature review, a thematic analysis of legal documents and by producing a database of relevant reports and reviews into immigration detention.
Beth, who is due to graduate this summer, will also use the internship to develop an application for postgraduate research funding.
