Got a question for Akala?

For our flagship Black History Month event on 22 Oct, rapper, author, poet and political activist, Akala, is joining us – and we want YOU to ask the questions.

The evening is a celebration of black culture, music and performance featuring acapella, spoken word and dance performances from the University of Brighton African and Caribbean Student Society.

Akala is a University of Brighton Honorary Doctorate and we’re thrilled to be welcoming him for what promises to be a truly unique event.

To pose a question to Akala, comment below or email Edwin Gilson at E.Gilson@brighton.ac.uk.

Akala will be in discussion with Dr Dwight Turner, Senior Lecturer in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy – the discussion will trace the history of hip hop, exploring the oral traditions, musical, cultural and political movements that have contributed to the evolution of this vital and vibrant musical genre.

When Monday 22 October, 6.30pm – 8pm

Where Sallis Benney Theatre, 58-67 Grand Parade, Brighton BN2 0JY
