Storying the Immobilities of Gender Violence in the UK and Mexico

A new book by Professor Lesley Murray and Dr Jess Moriarty from the School of Humanities and Social Science is set to be released this month.

Storying the Immobilities of Gender Violence in the UK and Mexico, written alongside Paula Soto Villagrán and Olga Sabido Ramos, was written in response to the rise in domestic violence during lockdown.

The book offers an arts-based, storying, textual and visual lens on gender-based violence in the UK and Mexico. It’s a unique image-based bilingual (English and Spanish) book of textual and visual narratives of gender-based violence (GBV) in the UK and Mexico, framed with a critical commentary that sets these stories in the context of GBV in both countries.
