Jennifer Richardson-Cook studies Globalisation: Politics, Conflict and Human Rights MA and here she tells us about moving from America to study this particular post-graduate course at the University of Brighton.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for taking the time to speak to us today…

Why did you want to study in the UK?

“I wanted to study in the UK because my partner had studied in the UK in 2019 and had a great experience, and that motivated my interest for myself.”

What made you choose to come to Brighton?

“I chose to attend Brighton because of the program options on the Globalisation: Politics, Conflict and Human Rights MA (PGCert PGDip). I felt that the program suited my interest and passions, and when I researched the lecturers, I felt they would bring an unparalleled level of expertise.”

What was it about the course that appealed to you?

“The module lecturers and the subject matter were very appealing.”

What are you most enjoying about the course?

“I’m most enjoying the level of academic discourse, and the utilization of diversity. I feel that with this course in particular it is crucial to bring in diverse experiences and backgrounds to facilitate an authentic practice and understanding of globalization and how that can sculpt the global outlooks being studied.”

Can you tell me about what it’s like to be an international student in Brighton?

“As an International student I have it found it extremely valuable to participate in a new academic system. it’s been somewhat daunting at times as a newcomer being tasked with learning the academic processes of a new country, and the day-to-day culture and social norms, but I also feel that is where long lasting growth is created.”
