Dr Sophie Lewis workshop and lecture on new book Abolish the Family (Fri 7 Oct)

Dr Lewis of the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research teaches courses on feminist, trans and queer politics and philosophy – join us at the University of Brighton for an afternoon workshop with her (2-5pm), followed by a lecture at 6pm.

The University of Brighton’s Centre for Applied Philosophy and Ethics is delighted to welcome Dr Sophie Lewis on Friday 7th October to discuss her new book Abolish the Family: A Manifesto for Care and Liberation (Verso, 2022).

Dr Lewis is the author of Full Surrogacy Now: Feminism Against Family (Verso, 2019). There will be a workshop in the afternoon consisting of presentations and discussion of her new book, 2-5pm, Grand Parade G63. This will be limited to approximately 12 participants. Dr Lewis will also give a public lecture in the evening 6-7.30pm, in Edward Street Lecture Theatre room 105. All are welcome and booking a place at the lecture is not essential, but it will operate on a first come, first served, basis. #CAPPE @uob_humssocsci
