Last chance for entries to Arts Council Poetry Festival

University of Brighton is partnering with the Arts Council’s Brighton & Hove Poetry Festival this year – and you have until 18 October to enter the poetry competition, with the winner announced at the November event.

The festival features the Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy reading a selection of her poetry accompanied by her musician Mr John Sampson and a performance by Hammer and Tongue, who will also run a Poetry Slam competition featuring finalists from the University of Brighton.

Carol Ann Duffy and Dr Jess Moriarty, Creative Writing programme leader at Brighton, will be judging the prizes, with Carol Ann presenting the awards at the event at The Old Market in Hove on November 18 2017.

First Prize is £1,000, with runners-up awards including the £250 Higgidy Award, a University of Brighton Write Work Live Award Writing course worth £250 and the University of Brighton Student Award First Prize of £150. There are also four highly commended prizes of £20.
