‘LET THERE BE LIGHT’ PART 2

For the second part of this project i have decided to base it on water reflections and light sources through water. I plan to create a cut-out paper sculpture with a pattern inspired by the shapes water droplets and pools form and the effect it has on them when different light shines upon them. These are photos i’ve taken so far from observations of water through glass, water boiling in a kettle with a blue light shining upon it, and rain drops on a window with light from the road traffic in the distance behind.

BLUE SCREEN WORKSHOP

Here are some pictures from the blue screen workshop i attended. This was a very fun activity to do and allowed us a lot of freedom to think outside the box and have creative freedom. I was in a group of 5, we had to come up with a short narrative to make into a short film using the blue screen. Our idea was to do with a make believe/fantasy/childlike food picnic. Each member of the group created a large item of food or a insect that will come alive as a girl falls asleep on her picnic in the park.

MULTICOLOUR LIGHT REFLECTIONS- CD DISC IMAGES

Today i bought a packet of blank CD’s and experimented with shining various sources of light onto them, such as light for a bare bulb, torch light and coloured acetate filtered light. This was a great object to use as it provided hours of fun creating such colourful patterns and reflections as the light bounced off the surface in many different ways, creating a unique image each time. I also experimented with breaking the CD up into unusual shapes, this also formed interesting reflections that differed to the reflections i got from the shape of the round disc.
