Conference Overview

Institutional Research: Strengthening HE Futures

Join us this September for the thirteenth HEIR Network annual conference. This year, for the first time, the conference will be online, hosted by the University of Brighton. The theme of the conference this year focuses on the role of institutional research (IR), and of those HE professionals involved in IR, data analysis and evaluation, in strengthening and supporting the future of higher education and HEIs, which takes on a new level of importance in the current situation.

Under the broad theme of employing institutional research to strengthen the future of HE, there will be four distinct tracks running throughout the online conference:

  • Enhancing Learning Lives – using institutional research to drive improvements in student engagement and learning experiences.
  • Enriching Data Stories – transforming institutional research and data into insights and narratives to drive action.
  • Influencing Policy – applying institutional research to inform and influence policy and strategy formation.
  • Learning from Crises – how institutions have responded and evolved in response to the recent COVID-19 crisis.

Over the course of the online event there will be a total of four influential keynote speakers, all experts in their field and with years of experience amongst them, ready to share their knowledge and insights on the current issues facing the sector and how we can effectively respond.

In addition to the keynotes, there will be a range of relevant online breakout sessions throughout both mornings, delivered by engaging and inspiring HE professionals and academics.
