The International pathway gives students an exciting opportunity to develop health promotion skills through a placement in a country other than your own (65+ hours voluntary activity). Non-UK students typically conduct their placements with local partners in south-east England, others are supported to arrange placements in other countries.  Students help design the placement to pursue objectives identified in a personal learning contract drawn-up during the module induction.

Before undertaking the placement, students take a ‘cross cultural’ or ‘global health’ focused module designed to enhance comparative understanding of how public health is perceived and delivered in different countries and cultural contexts. The dissertation will also include a comparative analysis of health in different contexts.

The International pathway is ideal if you already have some grounding in health promotion or public health but want to broaden your experience and deepen your understanding of different cultural perspectives and systems of delivery of public health in the context of globalisation.
