Scholarship for International students studying Health Promotion

We are pleased to announce that the  School of Health Sciences have been in negotiation with a private donor to establish a scholarship which can fund a candidate to undertake a full time MA Health Promotion here at the University of Brighton. The scholarship will commence for the academic year 2015-16.

The donor’s aim is to provide an international postgraduate experience to health professionals from low and lower-middle income countries allowing them to further cultivate an area of specialism and then to return to their country of origin where they can make a tangible difference to their community. Thus the scholarship is intended to support applicants who are employed in roles where they will be able to influence health promotion practice and policy on their return. The application process includes obtaining formal agreement from employers endorsing a sabbatical leave of absence of 12 months.  (In exceptional cases, applicants whose influence is through non-paid roles, for example through voluntary agencies, may also be considered.)

The scholarship will support the course fees, travel costs, accommodation,  visa, subsistence and health insurance for 12 months, equivalent to a cost of £25,000. Further details of the scholarship are explained in the Scholarship Agreement attached. Applicants from eligible countries (see World Bank classification http://data.worldbank.org/about/country-and-lending-groups#Lower_middle_income) should complete the attached application form and submit by email to forwardbound@brighton.ac.uk. Closing date Monday 18th May at 17.00 hrs UK time.
