Mount Everest climber visits university laboratories

Bonita Norris, alongside Indus Films, visited the Sport and Exercise Science Consultancy Unit (SESCU) to film a promotional trailer for a new Extreme Environments documentary. The video was shot in the Welkin Laboratories as part of a pitch being made to Red Bull TV to commission the project.

Postgraduate fundraising team nearing their target!

Team Wilmott are nearing their fundraising target with an amazing £4,500 raised to date as they approach the Windsor Half Marathon which takes place this Sunday. The team, which includes six sport and exercise science postgraduate students, are raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) and you can read their story here.

Extreme Altitude Preparation Day

On Tuesday 16 September 2014, a group of colleagues from Centrica Energy in Windsor visited the University of Brighton’s Sport and Exercise Science Consultancy Unit (SESCU) for an Extreme Altitude Preparation Day. The day was in preparation for the groups Mount Kilimanjaro challenge which starts on 20 October 2014.

Inclusive Sports Festival 2014

On 16 September, 130 children with additional learning needs from seven schools in East Sussex attended the Inclusive Sports Festival at the School of Sport and Service Management in Eastbourne. The day included activities such as Boccia, parachute games, sitting volleyball, goalball, dance and new age kurling.

Wheelchair Basketball Workshop

PGCE and School Direct PE trainee teachers took part in a wheelchair basketball workshop at the School of Sport and Service Management. Brighton Tigers wheelchair basketball coach Steve Simmons and Albion in the Community ran the day with course leader Dr Gary Stidder.
