As a midwifery student you’ll use a wide-range of facilities during your studies to ensure you are ready for your clinical placements and practice – practising skills in an environment that simulates midwives’ real-life professional experiences.
Learning by simulation means you will be confident in your ability to apply your knowledge and skills in your day-to-day professional life.

Homebirth suite
Our homebirth suite room is set up as a replica lounge enabling you to gain experience in a non-hospital environment.
The room has recording equipment and monitors which feed through to a high fidelity data projector in the classroom so your lecturers and fellow students can give feedback on your progress.
Midwifery clinical skills room
This room is set up as a room in a hospital/ labour ward environment and offers excellent preparation for starting clinical practice within hospital and community settings. As with our home room it is set up for recording activities.
Equipment in the room includes:
- a replica hospital bed
- inflatable birthing pool
- baby cot
- birthing couch
- sling
- birthing ball.
