Guest speaker from InterContinental Hotels Group

Nora Vongerichten, E-Commerce Manager at InterContinental Hotels Group, returned to the University of Brighton last week to speak to hospitality students.

Nora studied International Hospitality Management at Brighton at undergraduate level, then continued with her studies completing the MA in 2010. After graduation she joined InterContenental Hotels group.

She spoke to first and second year students about how the InterContinental Hotels Group embraces and facilitates the digital presence of its brands in an online environment we all find ourselves living in.

She explained that the work of the digital team she is part of includes dealing with social media channels, maximising the efficiency of paid media, and ensuring that the hotels’ websites are fully optimized and easily accessible by customers.

She finished her talk by illustrating these points with relevant examples, and emphasised the significance of understanding the digital journey customers engage in.
