E-tailing and retail technology talk

Final year retails students received a guest lecture from Daniel Neilson as part of the E-tailing and Retail Technology module.

Daniel is the editor of The Great Outdoors magazine, and Time Out Accra, and the editor and publisher of Original Gravity%, a brand new craft beer publication.

Daniel is an expert on online content for websites and has edited more than 15 guidebooks for Time Out, as well as contributing to publications including Four Four Two, CNN Traveller, The Observer, The Wire, Rough Guides, British Airways Highlife.

From a retailing perspective, he has contributed content to Mr Porter, and is currently working with the YHA, Montane, and two more direct sale outdoor brands on their online content and marketing strategy.

The students gave nothing but praise for Daniel:

Nicole Henworth: “Daniel was fantastic! He devised the lecture on our personal skills and career aspirations.”

Jenna Rayner:  “I thought the lecture was really good today! Daniel was interactive, engaging and interesting! He was knowledgable about his field and critically appraised various e-retail strategies and spoke about how technology can be applied across ‘click and brick’ processes in accordance with the second learning objective stated in the module outline.

“He made me think about e-tailing from a different perspective which demonstrated how to strategically apply technology as a driver for competitive advantage. The two-hour lecture flew by, with all of us still engaged and wanting to listen to him more – so glad I went.”
