Tiana giving a presentation to students

Student teachers welcome back former PE trainee

We were delighted to welcome back to the Falmer campus, Tiana Zammit, a former PE PGCE student.

Tiana is now an early careers PE teacher at St Paul’s Catholic College in West Sussex having completed her teacher training with us last year. Tiana gave valuable advice to the new cohort of student teachers as they begin their first school-based training placement.

Tiana spoke about her own career journey from school in Gibraltar, her undergraduate degree at Loughborough University, as well as her own two school placements last year at Cardinal Newman School in Brighton and The Burgess Hill Academy.

Tiana said: “It was great to return to the university’s Falmer campus. I had an amazing year doing my teacher training at the University of Brighton and it was a real pleasure talking to current trainees.

“I know how valuable it was for me last year to hear from former University of Brighton students, and the advice and guidance they provided, which reassured me before I started my first school placement. My university training and two school placements really prepared me for the challenges of starting my professional teaching career.”

Find out how you can become a teacher with the University of Brighton.
