Head returns to advise students
We were delighted to welcome Craig Bull back to the university to speak with our student physical education teachers.
Craig is the Executive Head Teacher at Gildredge House School and a Brighton graduate having gained Qualified Teacher Status with us 20 years ago.
Craig spoke with students on our PE PGCE and School Connect courses about securing their first teaching position and provided valuable professional advice.
The seminar covered the application processes, writing a supporting statement, researching the school, interview techniques and other professionally-relevant factors. Craig also chatted about his career as a teacher of physical education, a deputy principal and a head teacher at a British International School in Singapore.
PGCE and School Direct PE route leader, Dr Gary Stidder said: “I remember teaching Craig as an undergraduate student and recall that he was very focussed. Having an experienced head teacher such as Craig speaking to our student teachers was extremely insightful but also very inspiring.
“The fact that Craig is also a former physical education teacher helped to contextualise much of the information he was able to provide respect to working within the contemporary education system and securing their first physical education teaching post.”
