Sport science career progression day

Final year students on our Sport and Exercise Science BSc(Hons) took part in our annual career progression day this month to help prepare them for life after graduation.

We were delighted to welcome back some of our sport and exercise science degree graduates for the event to chat about their careers and provide advice and tips on how to put yourself in the best position to secure the job you want. Graduates included:

  • Taylor Pierce – Fitness Manager / Health and Wellness Coordinator at Places Leisure
  • Ellie Noble – Cardiac Physiologist at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust
  • Rachael Fitzwater – Strength & Conditioning Coach at Hurstpierpoint College
  • Adam Chilcott – Performance Analyst at Lewes Women’s Community Football Club
  • Will Hayler – Academy Sports Scientist at Reading FC
  • Karina Fox – Physiotherapist at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust

Workshop sessions were also delivered by experts within the university:

  • Flo Pietzsch, principal lecturer, spoke about further study can strengthen your profile, skills and knowledge in his workshop

Sport and Exercise Science BSc course leader Dr Mark Hayes said: “The career progression day is a really important event for students. We want them to graduate with the skills and knowledge for their chosen career-path but also to ensure that they have the confidence to demonstrate this well to future employees and shine in their interviews.”

Workshops were supported by a series online materials and videos that the students could explore in their own time to prepare for the next step in their journeys. The full-day event compliments the personal and professional development module that includes 30 hrs of work experience in a setting of the students’ choice.
