Sport and health science courses at Brighton news

A four-course dining extravaganza

As part of the University of Brighton’s Outreach Programme we held a Masterchef event in the Culinary Arts Studio on our Eastbourne campus.

The annual event was this year held over seven days and over 80 Year 9 students took part. Students came from Causeway School, Cavendish School, Ifield Community College, Peacehaven Community College, Littlehampton Academy, Ark William Parker Academy and Sir Robert Woodard Academy.

The school students were supervised by university staff and student ambassadors.  Students were split into four teams to prepare and cook four courses from an Around the World menu which included Asian, Greek, American and British dishes.

Three judges attended each day to decide on a group winner and an individual Masterchef winner. The judges this year included Stephen Lloyd MP.

Marina Trowell, Outreach Coordinator commented: “I would like to thank all the schools, university staff, ambassadors and judges that attended each day.  It’s great to see so many young people developing new skills, working in teams and engaging with our student ambassadors.”
