Sport Coaching graduates – where are they now?

The University of Brighton prides itself on the employability of our students and we make sure they graduate with confidence and ready for work.

Work placements are just one of the ways we do this – they not only provide invaluable hands-on experience but many students are offered permanent jobs by the company they’ve spend their placement with. Here are just two of the many placement success stories from the university’s Sport Coaching BSc(Hons) course:

• 2013 graduate, Rob Maynard, spent his work placement with Portsmouth Football Club Academy. Rob is now working for the academy’s development centre.
• Becky Armstrong, who graduated in 2015 completed her placement with Sussex Cricket. She worked in their Development and Disability Programme, received a job offer and has been there ever since!

Studying sport coaching does not limit our students to attaining any job anywhere in the world. One of our 2014 graduates, James Connelly, has crossed the pond and is now working as the lead coach at Australian Cricket in Perth.

There are a wide range of different career avenues a student can take when studying sport coaching.

2015 graduates Tommy Node and Megan Hill are now both completing PGCEs to become physical education teachers following in the footsteps of  2014 graduate, Nadine Brelstaff who is now a fully qualified PE teacher after continuing her studies at Brighton.
