Placements providing real-world experience

All courses at the University of Brighton encourage students to reach their full potential and demonstrate their university learning in real-life situations.

The Sports Coaching BSc(Hons) degree offers around 60 different placement opportunities to its students with a range of sport organisations.

Here’s what a few of our current students are up to:

  • Third year student Russel Butlin is currently putting his skills into practice at the performance analysis unit at Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club
  • Jack Hyde, also in his third year, is working in professional cricket with a private academy as part of the development of Sussex Cricket
  • Vicky Shelbourne, is on placement working as a specialist trainer for the Sussex Hockey goalkeepers.

Second year students are also involving themselves in raising the profile of sport in the local community.

Student Jack Heiman is involved in some fundamental movement projects in local sport working with school pupils in Key Stage 1. And Matt Ewing is working with residents in rest homes to increase armchair based exercise all over Eastbourne – his clients range in age from 80 to 100!
