International Hospitality Management students reach Global Student Challenge semi-finals

Two University of Brighton International Hospitality Management BA(Hons) top-up students will be travelling to Hong Kong in June to take their place in the semi-finals of the PolyU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Student Challenge.

Brighton students David Klein and Dominik Flatten, and Torben Kock make up team Aro AE Teamand representing their home institution, IUBH, in Germany. Their business idea, Aunty Emma’s, introduces an innovative and convenient approach to fast and healthy DIY cooking for time and budget sensitive consumers.

Team Aro said: “We developed a business concept combining the efficiency of system catering with the slim organisation of a food discounter. Based on trust and a passion for food and home cooking, we called it Aunty Emma’s.

The PolyU Global Student Challenge is an innovation and entrepreneurship oriented competition for students from around the globe. Hosted by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 30 teams from universities in 17 countries and all kinds of study fields are competing to turn their business ideas into reality.

Leading up to the semi-final the team have submitted a 60-second elevator pitch and hope to become the ‘Best of the Best’. View their pitch and vote for team Aro.
