Lords trip for hospitality students
Second year International Hospitality Management BA(Hons) students visited Lords Cricket Ground last week as part of their course.
James de Groot, Head of Catering, talked to students about his role at Lords. He is responsible for catering and hospitality for 70 corporate boxes, up to nine restaurants and bars on match days and also for other conferences and events.
On any day there could be up to 30,000 guests to look after!
James graduated from the University of Brighton ten years ago. As part of his studying he spent his years placment at Lords and returned straight after graduation.
During the day students had lunch in the famous Lords Tavern and then enjoyed a full tour of the grounds including seeing a game of Real Tennis being played.
They also saw the Ashes and World Cricket Cup and visited the media centre where all the TV reporters and journalists sit to commentate on the matches.
