Award-winning writer joins course staff

Leading sport and business journalist Richard Gillis has joined the School of Sport and Service Management as a guest lecturer on the Sport Business Management BSc course.

Richard is an author, commentator and editorial consultant working for several of the world’s leading newspaper and publishing groups. Formerly editor of SportBusiness International, his work appears regularly in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Sports Business Journal, The Independent, The Observer and a host of business titles.

Richard will be taking a leading role in explaining the value of social media in sport business management, and how it impacts on marketing. Richard will be teaching on the Introduction to Sport Business Management and on the marketing modules.

Richard is no stranger to the school and recently presented at the Value of Sports Conference 2015 on the commercial value of Luis Suarez and its relationship to his on-pitch antics.

Course leader Adam Jones said: “We couldn’t be more delighted that Richard is to become part of our teaching team.

“His knowledge and experiences will benefit the University of Brighton’s Sport Business Management BSc students immensely.”
