Seven postgraduate students from the School of Sport and Service Management at the University of Brighton will be joining Team Willmott this September to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

Team Willmott has been set up by PhD student Ash Willmott and his brothers Aaron and Ryan who sadly lost their mother to motor Neuron Disease earlier this year.

The team brings together almost 70 friends and family, including students Oli Gibson, James Wrightson, Ben Duncan, Carl James, Gareth Turner and Hannah Ray to take part in the Windsor and Reigate Half Marathons.

The Team’s goal is to raise awareness of MND but to also raise as much money as they can to ensure that those with MND can receive the vital care that they need. MND is a rapidly progressive, incurable disease, with half of people dying within 14 months of diagnosis.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to improve care and support for people affected by MND, fund and promote research, and campaign and raise awareness so the needs of people with MND are addressed by society. All monies raised will help support this work.

The team have got off to a flying start to their fundraising but hope to raise even more before the first half marathon on 21 September. Add your support to Team Willmott.
