Football 4 Peace May Challenge Camp
Boys and girls from Eastbourne and Hastings came together during the school half term holidays in May to take part in the Football 4 Peace Challenge Camp at The School of Sport and Service Management in Eastbourne.
As part of the University of Brighton’s widening participation scheme, they participated in a range of physical activities designed to promote core human values such as trust, respect, responsibility, equity and inclusion.
PE and sport coaching students worked with the children over a four-day period using the Football 4 Peace methodology and curriculum which has been used in other countries and settings such as The Gambia, Israel and Northern Ireland.
Principal lecturer and Football 4 Peace co-founder Dr Gary Stidder said: “Social engagement programmes such as these help to promote the holistic development of children through a tried and tested pedagogical model whilst providing activities that many will not have taken part in before.”
