Bringing the Retail Consultancy module to life

For the Retail Consultancy module, final year retail marketing and management students choose from a range of companies who are willing to spend time discussing their business growth plans . Students negotiate a research project that will support the retailer in making business decisions about marketing and management opportunities and use a range of primary and secondary research methods to support their recommendations.

The retail students presented their consultancy  project results to a range of Sussex based SME retail companies at the end of May.

Projects include competitor analysis (on and offline), consumer questionnaires, one to one interviews and focus groups. This years clients included: FAIR fair-trade fashion boutique, Ruby Moon swimwear, Elif Kose homewares and fashion boutique Rottingdean, Molly Coddle childrenswear, Style Me Confident image consultants, Worthing, and St Wilfrid’s Hospice Eastbourne.

The companies were very happy with the suggestions and advice the students presented were well received.

Molly Coddle gave the following praise to students: “You both gave a cracking presentation today – well done. It was perfectly targeted at our discussions and I do appreciate all of your feedback, thank you.”

Another client commented: “Catherine and Amelia gave some very good ideas of which some we will definitely use.”

All the students enjoyed the opportunity to work with live clients which enabled them to put into practise all they have learned over the last three years.
