Reflection

Throughout this project as well as struggling to juggle 3 different projects at the same time, I think I also struggled with engaging with the meaning behind it. I initially chose landscapes as my reference for the research project because I wanted to explore my view in what is ‘Home’ to me in terms of Landscape, I struggle to think that we are only allowed to feel at home in your house, as I believe that a location at a specific time or moment can feel like ‘home’. The feeling of home to me is a place that feels familiar and comforting. I have this feeling in my childhood home in Shropshire, the initial feeling when I moved to Brighton which disappeared after a few months. The feeling reappeared after saw the Seven Sisters when I moved away from Brighton with my partner. Place I’ve visited on holiday and I also have the feeling for a place I’ve never visited before. I constantly center my life around Japan, I consume it via Youtube Vloggers, My art and design,  and even the place I work is inspired by Japanese Kawaii culture. Apart of myself feels at home in a place I’ve never visited which is something I wanted to explore in final Project but struggled to express in my research project.

Story Analysis

0:02: We are shown a Bee collecting nectar, links to the song title “Hunnybee” but also may symbolises that everything in nature is connected
0:16: A train come to into frame right, the comparison in size of the bee and train but sill have equal value of importance, nature can symbolize peace and synchronized order then disruptive train changes this balance. ( How humans disrupted the earth’s balance)
Journey 0:18- 0:45 I really enjoy how the window is centered in the frame and shows this ongoing journey with the girl on the left and how it flows like a train journey.
Story building 2:49 cuts on to train wheels   2:53 zoom in on a still camera  2:58 showing a birds 3:16 highlight on Bag with “Kiwi” written on the badge. Mise en scène is used to help tell the story by giving little details that help to tell a story.
Climax 3:24 the bolt in the wheels of the train seems loose 3:28 suitcase looks like it’s going to fall.  3:30 tree branch about to fall on train 3:39 fire extinguisher hasn’t been checked. 3:44 reveals the falling suitcase is heavy. These fast transition build up suspension and anticipating that something bad is going to happen immediately
Ending 3:57 later reveals all of this presented panic, was nothing to worry about and that the train goes through the tunnel and continues its journey. The tree branch falls missing the train.
The video that accompanies this single effortlessly creates a story by showing a journey through different elements. Captures small details that make an impact on the overarching plotline. As well as being visually stunning, reference 90 retro Japanese video games. This is why this is an important reference for my final project
