Statement

My work explores the importance of the Arabian horses in Qatar and the fact that it is greatly appreciated and respected in culture as it is also known that the horse refers to the supreme blessing. As well as they act as a companion for humans throughout the years specifically when travelling from one place to another, they made man faster and stronger, it has been asset and essential part of daily life and transporting goods. Simultaneously, the Arabian horse was for a long time an important source of economic and political power in the Islamic culture, and centuries before petroleum and natural gas gave prominence to Qatar as one of the world’s fastest growing economies, the country was known for its prized Arabian horses.

My work consists of two horse paintings facing each other Arabian Horse in a Red Bridle and Arabian Horse in Gold Bridle, in which it illustrates the fact that the horse is an emotional and loyal animal either to its partner or to its owner as it is an animal that inspires great feelings and symbolises passion, energy and power. The curved nose and the neck is surrounded by both red and gold bridles which symbolizes patterns and colours that reflects to the culture in its form, as it is barely or never seen on other breeds. Both brush and palette knife marks had been used so as to achieve a non flat surface in addition to textures especially to attempt to build a more realistic pictorial sense of the colourful bridles in order to focus on what reflects to the Qatari culture.
