Our module working in context we spent the day looking at the Booth museum of Natural History in Brighton Our guest on our zoom meeting was John Cooper who is the geologist for the British Museum.
The Booth documents many different historical elements one of the artists we looked at was Len Shelly who uses taxidermy collections. We were put into groups and asked to come up with an idea inspired by the ;BOOTH museum; Our group chose to make (World observation) The Installation featured boxes within boxes. Inside the box would be a bird. Inside its central booth. the other boxes would be for people to observe the bird inside it booth. The last box is outside with cameras to watch the people observing the bird. Our idea cam from us talking about our modern time obsession with observing us through social media, CCTV, etc The surveillance gave us the concept plus the booths taxidermy collection.
We thought of making something that could use an exhibition to look on our issues with Observation gone wrong.
