I Started to focus on how to structure an exhibition with a graffiti street art style the attention of his subliminal surrealism work made me think what you could portray with these ideas in modern times.
Antaeus setting down Dante and Virgil in the last circle of hell, 1827
William Blake was also known as a prolific poet some around him would call him insane and a madman but he wasn’t destructive most of his effort was put into his work.
I realised how graffiti generally is viewed as slightly off the cuff or at its worst a mad thing to do, putting this into prescriptive i wanted to explore how my art could translate in exhibition setting having a graffiti style with a poetic story enveloped. researching into William blakes life alllowed me to dissect how i could portray broad religious or spiritual art into graffiti.
I’ve made a few pounds myself through this journey and I’d like to put one on here now.
The way he constructed his belief system on why he created art and his poems that brought joy to many around him at the time , he always had a very specific igrounded route upon which he look at God and the word of God he said he had seen spirits since a young age and when one of his brother died he saw his spirit going up enjoy to God.
