Covid tear is tearing us apart/

Covid… is tearing us apart.

My placement and square foot is in a different location to the rest of my course as I don’t live in Brighton.

the place I have chosen to choose is the center in Poole high street.

In the day mostly condensed with people.
shops in all directions there is a cafe called delfinos which is a good spot to observe

I was brought up here so the environment is odd to me but familiar.

The connection between me living here for 99% of my life made the COVID situation weird to say the least.

I lived in Brighton for 9 months before the lockdown, The contrast of open Brighton to empty different weary Poole (Dorset) is something.

Drawings.

DrawingDrawing

The drawings i created here are a insight on how it felt to sit and observe the normal/In normality of the situation. watching people go into panic buying and subtle aging of the situation is bare even with only there eyes to see.

Bird

The satisfacting moments watching 100s of pigeons experiencing daily interaction with the same/different people is life. Watching this species evolve over my life time I wonder how humans and pigeons became little companions as we go to a supermarket or shop.

as I sit here looking at my spot I wonder why all these people are here what are they trying to experience are we all here for the same reasons ?

only thing I see is buy sell/ leave no substance really.

Location.  Poole high street. The history of poole.  it was mostly back in the day used as a port for ships and merchants. slowly growing into a market. to shopping center. families gathered and made places to live becoming more for shopping cafes and pubs than trading and shipping.

History.

history

The whole of the town is old and getting to the point of a serious renewal. Still feeling and looking the same as when i was young and experiencing my first moments, the people dont seem the same tho whether thats because i had not  got my innonce taken away yet. now as i walk around viewing the town with covid looming everywhere i wonder what this place will be in 10 or even 5 years time.

The board..

The boxes is where people can write with the marker how they feel about the whole situation. While being recorded.  I think there’s a potential the board could get broken or even taken away the amount of ways people could view this is extreme. At the end the board would be put up on a wall to observe.

Proposal.

my proposal is to create a black thin board that has covid is tearing us apart sprayed onto the front lying down in the middle of the center. where people will walk, view and see the piece. on the bottom corner there will be sharpies. below where it says the covid is tearing us apart it will say how do this make you feel ?

people then can pick up a sharpie and right there thoughts.

who knows what people will say in a way its anonymous as as soon as they walk away there message is clear but they aren’t. Some might put down there names and aclaim what they have written. it gives the chance for people to say how they feel freely and openly or just look at this and agree or disagree.

The presentation would work in two different times of the day. Contrast.

in the busy streets daylight it would be the real parallel of the COVID stickers and signs we all see while walking around. A black board saying something inflammatory to that message while people can take that as they will/wish.
In the night fewer people around and the potential of damage to the board or more freedom in what people write is intriguing thought. The difference could be vast how people react. A high street in broad daylight watching you walk or draw over the board. To no one around just you and the board. I would have a camera recording as long as I’m there. Not letting anyone no I’m the creator of the board.
