Projects in this area include, but are not limited to, those related to embodied relationships with digital technologies and spaces; everyday and embodied LGBTQ+ experiences of inclusion politics, urban spaces and institutions; the relationship between masculinity and emotion, vulnerability and violence; feminist political ecology; social and environmental justice; decolonial thinking and critical approaches to sustainable development; and the gendered ecological politics of displacement, resettlement and dispossession in forest and flood contexts in Indonesia and Thailand.

Projects in this area include, but are not limited to, those related to environmental impacts of mining; hydrogeology and the behaviour of nutrient and heavy metals (rural and urban environments); environmental controls on material corrosion; fluvial sedimentology; tectonics geomorphology; fluvial landscape development in tectonically active regions; large scale uplift of mountain ranges; the impact of changing weather patterns on intertidal environments; environmental advocacy-activism around resource extraction; strategies for increasing lipid-based biofuel production; systems biology in health and disease; rare disease mechanisms of action; lipid-related projects investigating the mechanism of action of chemicals that target membranes e.g. alcohols, drug or other chemical toxins; antioxidant compounds that protect against oxidative stress for health, disease or food security applications; interactions between chemical nerve agents and cyclic compounds.
