Starting with a simple social media plan of emulating my portfolio, I progressed to also wanting to display process within my Instagram that my portfolio lacks. I chose to begin with mockup designs of my portfolio and business cards as I thought that this imagery was a good example to showcase my brand identity skills ( I am trying to think about future employment opportunities). I also wanted to share posts that include a variety of my skills including printed work, photography, illustration and also sketchbook work from my previous projects.
I have also looked into paid promotions for my work. I have created a day-long promotion as an experiment to see how it works.
Work themes – I am trying to keep my theme dark and moody with b&w photography as well as dark mockups of other projects. I am trying to stick to posts in groups of three or six relating to my project. I am also going to start splitting my pictures on Instagram so some of them span over multiple posts – I have quite a few large scale images so am hoping it works well.
I have created schedule for all my posts to be uploaded on the app Later.
Update – 2/06/20 In solidarity for black lives matter and #blackouttuesday, I have stopped posting my work and have stopped promoting my Instagram page for the time being. If I do post I have created an appropriate image for this that is respectful but also uses my primary font and uncoated paper texture used in my work. I will also include links to any appropriate resources for this such as funding and petition links.
