I cannot believe its all done. This project by far was the most fun and most sucessful. I gave myself time to think, time to reflect and although some process is missing in my sketchbook ( I always find this an issue – especially with digital drawings) I am surprisingly happy to have such a wonderful result. As with many other students, the timing of lockdown couldn’t have been worse, however after a few breakdowns and lot and lots of panic, I finally got my act together. Sort of.
Research
My research wasn’t all in vain. This project I actually used all of my research to the fullest. I had felt like there was a specific aesthetic of bright etheral and sculptural flowers to all the artists I looked at and this narrowing down of research really helped me. Much more than other projects I have done. One regret I have is that i didn’t take any photos of floral sculptural still life work (however I am planning to do this after my hand ins) as I think it would be such a rewarding mini project to do.
Experimentation
Oh my experiementation is all over the place as usual. At least it is all flower themed in this project. I would be lying to myself if I said I had got the hang of sucessful and beautiful experimentation. My experimentation and exploration was very helpful to me in this project, however, and I do see links between my work, but I struggled getting a natural flow of thought going within a digital sketchbook. I tried at the start by doing half digitally and half physically but it was tricky. I couldn’t flick back through and get a clear picture of my journey and development.
Final Pieces
There was a time when I thought I would never get them done. I had produced one as an experiment originally but I liked it so much and had got such good feedback from my personal Instagram profile for it that I just had to do more.
Overall this final project was both intense and incredible. I can’t believe it’s finally over (and that I didn’t hand it in less 2 hours before the deadline – I was actually very organised).
