Branding, by far, has been the most difficult thing to research within my project. I wanted to look at other graduates and young creatives and see their branding work. I found ALOT of very bland branding sites or webpages with hardly any strong branding at all.
I had found a Nottingham based company called Mylk studios who specialise in branding and follow me on Instagram. Their aesthetic is beautiful and elegant, however, so many other brands are called Mylk or Milk and honestly the website when googled is impossible to find. I am very glad I haven’t got a very generic name. But I am also surprised that a branding studio called themselves Mylk. I can see that the site is made with Square Space which I think I will use for my project. The logo is fabulous and the colour theme is soft and carefully selected. It may be too feminine for my personal identity and I want something a little more eye-catching than this. The layout is lovely and simple and I have seen the soft pink background featured on other sites. I think it works really well.
On the other extreme is the branding of the illustrator Clarice Tudor. I was in art class with her when I was at school and her work is incredible. She has been very successful from her illustrations and has featured in magazines such as ItsNiceThat. Her work is bright, blocky colours featuring an array of talking animals and sentient objects. Her branding is immediately recognisable and in theme with her work. Her online shop is also branded in the same way too. Now this may be too colourful for my own branding but it’s really interesting to compare the two extremes of very well designed branding.
