Bad luck comes in three (4th November)

  • Oh my days have I had a stressful couple of days. My bedroom carpet is damp and growing mould, my outside London shoot day turned out to be storm day and I left my iPhone in a cab in London. I think all of this has made me realise how important it is to have backup plans. Unfortunately, my train was already prebooked for Thursday before I knew about the storm and I had arranged to see my friend in the evening, so I still went to London despite the storm. As I wasn’t able to carry out my photoshoot I instead I have been focusing on researching the female and male gaze and how this affects the way we dress. I have also carried out a few interviews with my friends and relatives asking how they have faced difficulty with the female and male gaze.
  • I really wanted this week to be more of an experimentation week, but due to circumstances such as the weather, missing phone etc. I’ve had to adapt and make it a research week. I’ve spent a lot of time researching aperture, shutter speed and ISO, as I realised (with my practice photos) I struggled with achieving crisp quality images. I’ve also been researching sustainable fashion innovators like Danielle Elsener. Danielle has helped several businesses massively increase their sustainability by creating a zero-waste design system to help designers and manufacturers create garments with far less excess waste of materials. By looking into sustainable innovators such as Danielle I have realised, that I really want to utilise my project to help teach or persuade others easy ways they can adapt their fashion choices to be sustainable. In addition to this, I want to encourage my audience to choose styles that reflect their independent style more as opposed to following trends or societal norms. Many sustainable innovators work towards making sustainability easier, and I think this is a key element in persuading people to participate in a more sustainable world of fashion!
