Whose Anthropocene?

Speaker: Professor Vinita Damodaran (University of Sussex)

Environmental historian and director of the Centre for World Environmental History (CWEH) Prof Damodaran, will introduce the concept Anthropocene in current Environmental History.

The Anthropocene is a term referring to the current geological age. Taking TJ Demosʼ recent book Against the Anthropocene (2018)
as the focus, this reading group will investigate ideas and strategies discussed in the book, which is available to read in the Communal Library.

Whose Anthroposcene? is co-organised by artist Zuky Serper (CWEH) University of Sussex, Fine Art Critical Practice students, University of Brighton and Graduates Monthly, forming part of a series of events Communal, to mark the opening of the Brighton Centre for Contemporary Art
