CONGREGATE

congregate

As a part of the project ‘congregate’, Josie (L6) invites you to attend a dinner in the studio. A few nights a week, a dinner will be cooked and served in the 3rd year studio for whoever wishes to join! The purpose of the work is to challenge the neoliberal structure of society resulting in atomisation of the individual: the lack of community both within wider society and local society is what is being challenged in the work. It is participatory, so to attend you will need to sign your name on the sheet which is up in 1st year studio, and fill out a consent and allergy form. (All food is vegan and nut free – there will be much more information on the consent forms about food and alcohol!)

The invite extends to whoever may want to join – as long as they sign up they can come and be fed! Individualisation is an assumption that capitalism and neoliberalism operates upon, and is widely recognised to have a negative affect on the mental health of the individual. Through cooking for and feeding people, creating a space in which we can congregate and feel a sense of community, and establishing interactions which may not have previously happened, we are challenging these assumptions and rejecting atomisation.

The dates of future dinners are up on the sign up sheet – THURS 29TH NOV, TUES 4TH DEC, WEDS 12TH DEC, THURS 13TH DEC. (dinners will continue well in to next term).

Hope to see as many of you at some point in the future sat around the table!
